About the event

We are excited to bring a fantastic new panel event to our Lighthouse Club members and supporters on the topic of "Successfully Starting & Running Your Own Professional Services Business".

We have gathered some of the best in the business to share advice, knowledge and tales of their journey in a panel discussion followed by networking.

The Panel:

Gerry Tucker

MBA (Stanford); MA/LLM Arbitration & Dispute Resolution (Hong Kong).

Chartered Civil Engineer, Environmentalist, Surveyor & Arbitrator; Registered Mediator.

Gerry spent most of his career in Asia and latterly the Middle East, with his long-term base in Hong Kong, but living for periods in India, Oman and Dubai.  For two decades, Gerry ran his own professional services consultancy, both as a ‘lone ranger’ and with a team.

Gerry’s consultancy principally serviced contractors and sub-contractors upon Project Facilitation (Procurement, Contracts & Claims) and Dispute Prevention, Management & Resolution.  He developed a speciality in facilitating the formation of multi-national joint ventures for major projects, up to a 10-company consortium for a US$ 22 billion metro system bid in Saudi Arabia, and the engagement of international sub-contractors and consultants.

Sean Brady

Sean Brady is a forensic engineer. He's the Vice Chair of the Society of Construction Law in Australia and a member of the SIMC Panel of Experts in Singapore. He's a Chartered Professional Engineer, and a Fellow of Engineers Australia. In 2020 he completed the Brady Review, which investigated the causes of fatalities in the Queensland mining industry. The review was tabled in parliament and made 11 recommendations to the regulator and mining companies on how to improve safety. Sean is currently engaged as the lead investigator on a major power station incident in Australia. He also speaks and writes on the causes of technical and organisational failure.

Janelle Kerrisk

Janelle is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Helix Legal with a firm legal background as a construction and infrastructure lawyer for the past 14 years. In 2017, she was the winner of the National Association of Women in Construction Award for achievement as a business woman and named a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards in the construction and infrastructure category.  Janelle's passion is to continue to produce fresh ideas for clients through the application of her specialist knowledge to technology enhanced solutions. Janelle has a broad experience providing both front end and back end services to the construction industry including along all levels of the contractual chain and in the public and private sectors.

Jacqui Doyle

Jacqui is a seasoned professional with a strong background in litigation and trial preparation. Jacqui's expertise extends beyond project establishment and delivery advice as she prides herself on her guidance and advice to principals, contractors, sub-contractors, engineers, architects, and other consultants on all aspects of dispute management, including litigation, mediation, expert determination, and arbitration.

Jacqui is passionate about collaborating with clients to bring their projects to life, while prioritising long-term project success through appropriate risk allocation and where possible a collaborative contracting approach.
